Student’s Computational Thinking Process in Solving PISA Questions in Terms of Problem Solving Abilities
نویسندگان
چکیده
Computational thinking is the process of solving problems using logic gradually and systematically needed in field mathematics. However, learning applied by teacher limits student's ability to develop computational skills. Teachers are accustomed providing conventional emphasize skills formulas. One treatments that can be used stimulate PISA questions. The purpose this study was analyze processes questions terms their problem abilities. research data consisted student answers, think aloud results, semi-structured interviews. Data analysis techniques reduction, presentation, drawing conclusions or verification. results showed students with low abilities only reached decomposition stage because were able simplify even though it incomplete, but they not connect mathematical concepts materials build a solution. Meanwhile, moderate high limited pattern recognition strategies, make mistakes patterns, there incomplete steps. So concluded reaches stage. indicators.

Assessment of Pharmacy Students’ Critical Thinking and Problem- Solving Abilities
Pharmacists must be competent in detecting and resolving drug-related problems to effectively provide pharmaceutical care. Little is known, however, about students’ problem-solving processes or their relationship to clinical decision-making. This paper reports the findings from 40 clerkship students who completed a computer program (CAP) developed to assess problem-solving skills, as well as va...
متن کاملProblem Solving and Computational Thinking in a Learning Environment
Computational thinking is a new problem solving method named for its extensive use of computer science techniques. It synthesizes critical thinking and existing knowledge and applies them to solve complex technological problems. The term was coined by J. Wing [1], but the relationship between computational and critical thinking, the two modes of thinking in solving problems, has not been yet cl...
متن کاملThinking and Problem Solving
Human thinking, and in particular, the human ability to solve complex, real-life problems contributes more than any other human ability to the development of human culture and the growth and development of human life on earth. However, the human ability to solve complex problems is still not well understood, partly because it has for a long time been largely ignored by traditional problem-solvi...
متن کاملTitle : Automatic Scoring of Items in PISA 2012 Problem Solving
The OECD PISA 2012 Problem Solving assessment was delivered on-line and exploited the capabilities of the computer by including many problems where students were required to interact with a virtual scenario. The actions taken by students – clicking buttons, dragging objects etc – were recorded in log files during testing. For many items these logs were used to automatically score the item. In s...
متن کاملCrowdsourcing of Computational Problem Solving
Computational problems can be specified by logical statements interpreted in a computable model (a.k.a. claims). Semantic Games (SGs) of claims, a well-researched area, provide novel answers to crowdsourcing challenges yet with several limitations. Most notably that SGs provide a binary interaction mechanism that requires both participants to hold contradictory positions on the underlying claim...
